Bridges, the youngest of three children, was born on September 22, 1986, and spent his childhood in the Greater Western Sydney neighbourhood of Toongabbie. She is the only girl in her family and is six minutes younger than the other twin. Bridges’ parents introduced her to karate when she was five years old, and she participated in it until she was thirteen. Soon after, she began training in Muay Thai and Kickboxing at her secondary school.
She eventually discovered competitive bodybuilding, where she competed for eight years and won multiple regional and state titles while being mentored by Arina Manta. She recalled how difficult her teenage years were, but how she overcame them with the support of her parents: “At 18, I determined I needed to alter my life.” ’Bridges idolised Roy Jones Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, Anthony Mundine, and Kostya Tszyu as a young man.
She teaches maths at Airds High School and resides in Dural, New South Wales. She completed a work placement at Mount Annan High School while pursuing a career as a math teacher. Bridges studied mathematics with a minor in physical education while pursuing her amateur boxing career at Western Sydney University. She then went on to get a master’s degree in teaching at the top of her class. Additionally, Bridges is trilingual, speaking English, Portuguese, and Spanish. In karate, she holds a black belt. Bridges competed in SAS Australia’s fourth season, and was fired in episode 11.
Boxing Career
The bantamweight match between Bridges and Thai fighter Rungnapha Kaewrachang was supposed to take place at the Wollongong Fraternity Club on November 24, 2018, however it was postponed because of Kaewrachang’s problems getting a fighting licence. Instead, Bridges competed in an exhibition fight against Bianca Elmir, however it was not recognised as a professional match. Bridges made her professional debut on February 8, 2019, at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, taking on Filipino fighter Mahiecka Pareno (2-1-0), who she ultimately defeated by majority decision after being knocked to the ground by Pareno in the first round.
