    Born on December 5, 1995, Herbert. Prior to becoming pro, he played junior golf at Neangar Park Golf Club where he was reared in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. He lost in a playoff as an amateur for the 2013 PGA Tour of Australasia event, the Lexus of Blackburn Heritage Classic. He competed in the Australian team for the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy, where they tied for sixth place. Herbert, who finished three strokes behind Jon Rahm, tied for the second-best individual score. He became a professional at the end of 2015.

    Golf Career

    Lucas Herbert played largely on the PGA Tour of Australasia after going pro. He finished second to amateur Brett Coletta at the Isuzu Queensland Open at the end of 2016. He finished second again in the 2017 New South Wales Open, this time to Jason Scrivener, and had strong showings in the Emirates Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship after that. Herbert started competing on the European Tour in 2018 thanks to sponsor exemptions, placing 47th in the Race to Dubai and finished the year among the top 100 golfers in the world.

    He achieved three third-place results, including the Sky Sports British Masters, and finished second in the Portugal Masters. He qualified for the 2018 Open Championship after finishing strongly in the SMBC Singapore Open, and he made the cut there. He qualified for the 2018 U.S. Open as well, however he didn’t make the cut. Herbert achieved a career-high position of 73 in the global rankings in January after finishing in seventh place at the 2019 Omega Dubai Desert Classic. He was 107th on the European Tour Order of Merit despite only having one other top-10 result, which came in the Omega European Masters.

    After defeating Christiaan Bezuidenhout in a playoff to win the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in January 2020, Herbert returned to the top-100 in the world rankings. He finished second to Brad Kennedy in the New Zealand Open in March 2020. He finished three strokes ahead of Rikard Karlberg to win the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in July 2021, giving him automatic entry for The Open Championship two weeks later. After placing second in the Abrdn Scottish Open the following week, Herbert made his first-ever appearance in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

    Herbert qualified for the Korn Ferry Tour Finals in August 2021 under the category “Numbers 126-200 on PGA Tour Non-Member FedExCup Points List.” He placed in the top 25, earning a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2021–2022 season. He achieved his first PGA Tour victory at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in October 2021.
