Early Life
Born on December 5, 1995, Herbert. Prior to becoming pro, he played junior golf at Neangar Park Golf Club where he was reared in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. He lost in a playoff as an amateur for the 2013 PGA Tour of Australasia event, the Lexus of Blackburn Heritage Classic. He competed in the Australian team for the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy, where they tied for sixth place. Herbert, who finished three strokes behind Jon Rahm, tied for the second-best individual score. He became a professional at the end of 2015.
Golf Career
Lucas Herbert played largely on the PGA Tour of Australasia after going pro. He finished second to amateur Brett Coletta at the Isuzu Queensland Open at the end of 2016. He finished second again in the 2017 New South Wales Open, this time to Jason Scrivener, and had strong showings in the Emirates Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship after that. Herbert started competing on the European Tour in 2018 thanks to sponsor exemptions, placing 47th in the Race to Dubai and finished the year among the top 100 golfers in the world.
