Early Life
The family of Tafon, who was born in Bamenda, Cameroon, emigrated to the US in 2005. He started out playing soccer in his younger years before switching to football, baseball, and wrestling in high school. He went to college, but left after learning about mixed martial arts.
Nchukwi is the WKA 2 2016 World champion as well as the WKA 2 2016 National and 2017 National champions. He has a 2017 IBJJF PAN Silver medal and a blue belt in jiu-jitsu. The Republic of Ambazonia’s separatist flag is flown by Nchukwi.
Career
Tafon, who was making his MMA debut at CFFC 73, took on Alex Meyers and won by second-round TKO. At Shogun Fights 23, Tafon won his second fight by first-round TKO over A.T. McCowin. At Cage Fury Fighting Championships 80, he defeated William Knight by first-round TKO after making a comeback. The victory was disputed because the referee mistakenly believed Knight had been knocked out while covering up.
On December 19, 2020, Nchukwi competed in his first promotional match against Jamie Pickett at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. Pickett was knocked out in the third round, and Nchukwi went on to win the bout by unanimous decision.
