Personal Life
Dempsey and Sala Parker welcomed Joseph Parker into the world on January 9, 1992 in South Auckland. The American fighter and heavyweight world champion Jack Dempsey inspired the name of his father, Dempsey. Parker attended Marcellin College in the Hillsborough neighbourhood after spending his formative years in the sizable Auckland district of Mangere. At age three, Dempsey handed him boxing gloves and a punching bag because he was still a young boy and enjoyed striking his father in the palms.
He joined the Papatoetoe Boxing Club when he was ten years old to pursue and learn the sport. Grant Arkell and Manny Santos, a former fighter, prepared him. When Parker was a child, he respected David Tua and Maselino Masoe since they were both from the same area as him. Parker is the middle child; he has an older sister named Elizabeth and a younger brother named John who is currently a skilled fighter.
His parentage attaches him to the Faleula Village on the primary island of Upolu, where his mother is from, making him primarily of Samoan descent. In the middle of the 1980s, his parents both relocated from Samoa to New Zealand. Parker, who belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also comes from a conservative family.
