Early Life

Fabien Frankel was born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in West London to French promoter Caroline Besson and English entertainer Mark Frankel. His dad came from a Jewish family. His paternal grandmother came from a Mumbai-based Indian Jewish family (initially from Iraq).

When Frankel was two years old, his father passed away in a car accident and his mother was expecting his younger brother Max. His mother raised him in London, and they spoke French at home. Before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2017, Fabien Frankel was obliged to complete an extended Foundation Course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

He made his on-screen debut in the lighthearted comedy film Last Christmas in 2019. Frankel began his career in front of an audience in the 2017 production of The Knowledge at Charing Cross Theatre. He received a part as Theo Sipowicz, the main character, in a pilot for a potential NYPD Blue side project series on ABC that same year. Frankel made an appearance in The Serpent on BBC One and Netflix in 2021 playing Dominique Renelleau.

A Game of Thrones prequel and adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s friend book Fire and Blood, it was announced in April that he would play Dornish knight Ser Criston Cole in the 2022 HBO dream series House of the Dragon. Additionally, and Frankel will soon appear in the independent satire film Venice at Dawn.
