Early Life
Jessica McCaskill was raised by her great aunt and her four boys. Her great aunt is from Belleville, Illinois, which is a part of the Greater St. Louis area. She grew up in poverty with her family, who lived in the rear of a nearby church. McCaskill began her amateur boxing career in 2008. McCaskill relocated to Chicago in 2012 and began working as an investment banker there.
Boxing Career
She began boxing in 2008 for health purposes, and in April 2009, she participated in her first amateur fight. She rose through the ranks and took home the 2010 Golden Gloves trophy. McCaskill won the Golden Glove Championship trophies in 2014 and 2015 with a 17-1 amateur record.
On August 22, 2015, she made her professional debut by defeating Tyrea Nichole Duncan via technical knockout (TKO) at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. She joined with Warriors Boxing in November 2016. Following matches against local boxers, she took on Irish Olympic gold medalist Katie Taylor in a bout for the WBA female lightweight championship. On December 13, 2017, in the York Hall in London, she lost to Taylor by unanimous decision (98-91, 97-92, 97-92).
