Early Life
On January 29, 1981, Huerta was born in Ecatepec, State of Mexico, Mexico. His father, a movie enthusiast, enrolled him in a Mara Elena Saldaa acting class, and Huerta later studied under Carlos Torres Torrija and Luis Felipe Tovar. Huerta comes from an indigenous family; her paternal great-great-grandmother is Purépecha and her maternal great-great-grandmother is Nahua. Huerta denies identifying as an indigenous person.
Career
He appeared as a supporting part in the 2006 movie Asi del precipicio to begin his acting career. He played Li’l Mago, the boss of the infamous Mara Salvatrucha gang’s Tapachula faction, in Cary Joji Fukunaga’s 2009 film Sin nombre. He starred as Carlos Mamami in the biographical catastrophe survival movie The 33, Alejo in Camino, which was released in 2015. In Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico, he started playing Rafael Caro Quintero in 2018.
Alongside his Narcos: Mexico co-star Alejandro Edda, he played Juan in The Forever Purge, the fifth instalment of the Purge franchise, which was released in 2021. Huerta was confirmed to have joined the cast and would be playing Namor the Sub-Mariner in the Marvel Studios movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022 at San Diego Comic-Con.
