IBF, WBC, and WBO featherweight champion Amanda Serrano and WBA champion Erika Cruz are set to square off for the undisputed featherweight championship, sources informed ESPN on Wednesday. On February 4 at the Hulu Theater in New York City, the bout will be the main event of a card. Serrano would become the first Puerto Rican undisputed champion, male or female, and the seven-division title holder would become an undisputed champion in a division if she triumphs.

In September, Serrano (43-2-1, 30 KO) won the IBF featherweight title after defeating Sarah Mahfoud in a unanimous decision. The third-ranked boxer on ESPN, pound-for-pound, is Serrano, 34. She fought twice last year, losing by split decision in the Madison Square Garden’s main arena to Mahfoud and Katie Taylor in what was dubbed ESPN’s women’s fight of the year in 2022. Cruz, 35, defeated Jelena Mrdjenovich by technical decision in April 2021 to claim the WBA title. She is 15-1 with three knockouts.

Since then, she has successfully defended the championship twice, defeating Mrdjenovich in a rematch in September and Melissa Esquivel by unanimous decision in 2021. Cruz only lost once in 2016, losing to Alondra Gonzalez Flores by majority decision in their second fight together. Despite Serrano’s several victories since she started competing professionally in 2009, she has never attained the status of undisputed four-belt champion, which she would do if she defeated Erika Cruz.

Serrano, who has stated she would like to fight Katie Taylor in a rematch of their April encounter in which Taylor prevailed through split decision to claim Taylor’s undisputed lightweight championships, could be in for a huge year.
