On February 25, 2017, Conway made his professional debut against Sonny Whiting at the Civic Hall in Bedworth, Warwickshire, winning by four-round points decision (PTS). On March 9, 2018, at The Deco in Northampton, he defeated Chris Monaghan by technical knockout (TKO) in the seventh round after accumulating five additional victories, including two by stoppage.

He competed in the Ultimate Boxxer III event on May 10, 2019, at the Indigo at The O2, following three more victories. Conway defeated Kaan Hawes in his opening match of the night by unanimous decision (UD) after three rounds, with scores of 30-27 from all three judges. Conway lost to Derrick Osaze in his second fight, which served as the tournament’s semifinals, by three-round split decision (SD). It was the first loss of Conway’s professional career.

Conway won the fight 29–28 on one judge’s scorecard, but Osaze won it 29–28 on the other two. After recovering from his loss on May 25 by defeating Harry Matthews in four rounds of PTS, he challenged British super-welterweight champion Ted Cheeseman on June 21 at London’s York Hall. Since Cheeseman acted as the aggressor for the most of the battle, Conway was obliged to defend herself.

The fight was declared a draw after twelve fiercely contested rounds, allowing Cheeseman to keep his British title. Conway won the fight by a score of 116–113, Cheeseman won by a score of 115–114, while the third judge gave it a tie score of 114–114. Conway’s promotional contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing was confirmed the following month. Before facing his friend and former sparring partner Navid Mansouri for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental super-welterweight title on August 14, 2020 at Matchroom Sport’s headquarters in Brentwood, Essex, Conway finished 2019 with PTS victories over Konrad Stempkowski in October and Craig O’Brien in December.

The first three rounds were evenly contested, with each fighter choosing his moments to deliver a right hand while remaining behind his jab. In the fourth round, Conway started to gain control of the fight by delivering a right hand that forced Mansouri onto the ropes. Much of the same was seen in rounds five and six, with Conway ending the rounds strongly.

Conway put Mansouri in danger in the seventh after hitting a two-punch combination and a barrage of solid blows. In the last four rounds, Conway pressed for the stoppage as Mansouri battled defensively. Conway won through UD to win the WBA regional championship when the final bell sounded. One judge gave the fight a score of 99-92, while the other two gave it a 98-92.

But after Cissokho pulled out of the fight because of “administrative concerns,” Macaulay McGowan was inserted as a late replacement. Conway knocked McGowan to the ground in the eighth round en route to a clean UD victory over 10 rounds, with the fight being broadcast live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and Ireland and streaming on DAZN in more than 200 countries. The fight received a 100-89 score from two judges and a 100-90 from the third.
